Last fall, we launched our U.S. & World section to chronicle and analyze the impact of technology on current events, and have since delved into issues as far ranging as the Trayvon Martin case, SOPA, Presidential candidate’s use of social media and the FAA’s approved electronics list.
Today, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re joining forces with The Atlantic to bring even more of this type of content to Mashable’s readers. The Atlantic, as well as National Journal and Nextgov (also owned by Atlantic Media Company), have joined the Mashable Publisher Platform, meaning that editorially selected articles from their publications will soon start appearing on our site.
Here’s a sampling of the types of stories you can expect to see:
As with content from our other partners, The Atlantic, National Journal and Nextgov’s articles will be clearly identifiable in the byline. As a reader, you’ll also be able to quickly follow those brands on Twitter or like them on Facebook so you can get more of their content in your streams.
We look forward to bringing The Atlantic’s content to you. For more details on the partnership, check out the press release below:
The Atlantic, National Journal, and Nextgov Partner with Mashable to Distribute Tech-Focused Content
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 26, 2012 – Atlantic Media Company today announced that The Atlantic, National Journal, and Nextgov are joining forces with Mashable, the largest independent online news site dedicated to covering digital culture, social media, and technology. Via Mashable’s Publisher Platform, the three Atlantic Media organizations will provide technology-focused content to Mashable’s extensive digital audience.
“The Atlantic, National Journal, and Nextgov each in their own distinctive way explore the intersection of technology with our culture, our politics, and our government,” said Atlantic Media Company President Justin B. Smith. “We’re excited to share that exploration with Mashable’s audience, one of the most tech-savvy and engaged there is.”
Mashable’s Publisher Platform is an editorially-curated syndication experience bringing the best content from select publishers directly to Mashable’s community. Whether it’s the latest on online privacy legislation from National Journal, news about dramatic shifts in homeland security IT from Nextgov, or a comprehensive dive into the impact of digital tracking from The Atlantic, Mashable’s editors will hand-select insightful Atlantic Media content to feature for its audience.
“Atlantic Media’s brands have both a tremendous legacy in journalism and have also consistently demonstrated an ability to innovate in digital,” said Mashable SVP Content & Executive Editor Adam Ostrow. “We are thrilled to welcome The Atlantic, National Journal, and Nextgov to the Mashable Publisher Platform and offer our readers select stories on topics that are increasingly important to their connected lives.”
Each story will include Mashable’s M-Share button, which lets readers share it simultaneously to multiple social networks, a module that allows readers to subscribe to The Atlantic, National Journal, or Nextgov on Facebook, Twitter or Mashable Follow, and a “related link” area that drives readers directly back to the publisher’s website.
